The Abyss
The abyssal zone is right at the bottom of the ocean floor, around 4,000–6,000 metres deep. This zone remains in perpetual darkness. It is made up of many different types of organisms, including microorganisms, crustaceans, snails, cephalopods, fish, and possibly some animals that have yet to be discovered!
Deep down on the ocean floor, octopuses gather on rocks in a location dubbed “octopus garden." This is the largest known aggregation of these molluscs in the world, though it doesn’t attract much else of equal size. Here, baby octopus embryos thrive in the hot themal vents.
